I've owned this knife for fifteen or more years. Without question, it is the finest hunting knife ever made. The blade design with the "reverse C" shape is perfect for skinning, cutting up game, and cleaning all types of game birds. It slices perfectly and the tip design allows for detailed cuts in smaller places. It is well designed with the AXIS locking system, provides plenty of grip when wet or bloody, and is well balanced and safe. The clip holds extremely well, and allows one to carry and open left or right. The only improvement would be to make the handle orange (or part orange), so you can see it in the field. I use a strip of orange duct tape on each side of mine for this purpose.

I recently returned from an elk hunt, where I assisted in cleaning and de-boning four elk with this knife. I think I sharpened it 2-3 times in that process. To sharpen, all it take about 3-4 swipes on each side with a DMT Green Folding Sharpener, and it's back to razor sharp in no time. Likewise, I use it to clean ducks, turkeys, and deer, and again, it is just perfect for making clean, long cuts, and tight spaces cuts, etc. I lost my CM154 version turkey hunting, and replaced it with the D2 version. The D2 steel is just as easy to sharpen and hold an edge about twice as long. Thank you Benchmade for returning this design to the marketplace, I sincerely hope it is always available for sale.
