Tolerances are tight and the feel is warm cold and strength combined. The blade is razor sharp and it opens as fast as a scalded ape. I now use this to develop a certain morel flexibility in otherwise unattainable flexibility of steadfast comrades.

I'm a firefighter/paramedic in Galveston County, TX, and while I was working during Hurricane Harvey my house flooded. My wife was alone for four days while I was at work and used this knife to tear up every bit of flooring in our house and to cut out the bottom two feet of drywall in every room. The tip never broke and it even held a decent edge after four days. The finish is a little worn now but after an hour on the wet stone it's ready to go again. I'll never buy another brand ever again.

I purchased the Barrage 580 due to being USA made, and I liked the look and feel. Afterwards I realized just ow great a knife this really was. I had heard of the Bench Made name but not super familar. I love the fact it turned out to be such an awesome knife. I use it everyday and it still will shave my arm. Keeps an edge very well. I'm very excited and pleased with this purchase.

I've been carrying nothing but Benchmade for 16 years, and the Barrage variant since they were first introduced...I now own 12 Benchmade knives, as well as buying numerous models for friends, family and colleagues over the last 15 years....I'd actually venture to say I've "Invested" over $5K in the company...HA!
As a Marine with over 30 years active duty and nine combat deployments, my gear is important to me, Benchmade has ALWAYS performed to my standards...which are higher than most. When you absolutely need a knife to work, from cutting det cord, or cutting flesh, to digging a hole in a wall for a breaching charge, benchmade has never let me down...ever! I actually prefer the assisted opening to the automatic...just a preference. And I will say, I carry three when I go to the pointy end of the stick...one in my trouser pocket on a lanyard, one on my vest on a lanyard, and a fixed blade strapped to an ankle inside a boot...probably the most important...I will have one on me when they play Taps and send me to guard the pearly gates. To the folks at Benchmade, Bravo Zulu Ladies and Gentlemen...every time.

I've had my Barrage for almost a year now. I have had no complaints at all. I love the feel in my hand and the durability. The assisted open has come in handy so many times while I'm fishing, at work, wherever. It's seriously so convenient. I can't stand knives that don't have it now... it's ruined me, but in the best way possible! I hate to admit it, but I let it go through the wash, so I just had it serviced to get a screw replaced. They not only replaced the screw, but Benchmade also replaced my bolster lining, my blade lock, and gave me a new thumb stud. Excellent knife and excellent customer service. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm a first responder and have been carrying this knife for about 4 years. My one and only complaint is that the Valox grips are slippery when dry and super slippery when wet. I played with the G10 and G10/Aluminum at the SHOT show and they aren't that much better. Frankly, a Barrage-type knife with Presidio-type grips, or something from VZ grips would make the knife 100% better.

I ordered one of these through the custom knifes, I lost my Griptillan and decided to order one. there's is a lot I like about this knife, I love the assist open, the lock is cool and the S30V blade is awesome, but I just did not like the feel in my hands it seamed to be a bit slippery the Griptillan is far superior to this knife, I love the Griptillan but this one falls a bit short on how it feels in my hand, some may love it. but its not for me. I am giving it away as a Christmas gift

Outstanding knife. I opted for the custom Barrage with G10 Handle, Black S30V Blade with graphic on both sides and an initial on the other. I am impressed with the build quality and it arrived razor sharp. I like the G10 over the plastic, it gives the knife a better feel. The custom shop allows choices of every aspect of the knife, truly making it unique to the owner. I had some issues with the website and due to that I missed a discount they offered. I contacted the customer service department and due to the problem they extended the offer, which saved significantly on the custom knife. I was very impressed by their willingness to work with me and felt it went a long way to build new customer loyalty. I love the knife and am very pleased that all of the BM knifes are built in the USA. The Barrage will not be my last I am sure. I will use the knife primarily for outdoor sport, i.e. fishing, hunting, backpacking, etc. I think it is a bit large for EDC, but depending on the person carrying the knife, it could be okay. In summary I love the knife and am impressed with all aspects of the company.

I bought this blade in 2013. I have used it for eveything from filleting fish to shaving my face. I have reassembled it at least 100 times to sanitize and remove dirt inside and out. It has seen a lot of exposure to salt water and yet corrosion is figuratively non-existent. If I ever manage to lose this one, I know for a fact that I will be coming back to Benchmade for a knofe that should last a lifetime.

When I first heard about benchmade my grandfather has had one and it was really nice. I'm not completely aire what he had but when my dad got his griptilian I knew I had to get one. So I ordered thiscustome Barrage and God it was killing me just to get it in the mail. When I got it I had saw the really nice case it was in and knew already it was high quality and very durable. The knife itself is wicked nice it's so sharp I didn't even nitic I sliced through my pants when I was wiping the blade off. I carry it everywere and it's my go to knife. Very impressed with the build and finished look on it. The only problem I had was the price I get there really high quality but just was a little high in my opinion. But that didn't stop me. Really graet. Thanks Benchmade

Has a hollow blade grind that makes it very sturdy in the blade, can put in some heavy work but won't weigh your pocket down if you go with the black plastic handle. I personally buy in two sometimes and did with the Barrage, because I like to know the ceiling and breaking point of my gear. I treated one like a tester and the other like a fielder and in pocket in show-condition. Covered the tester in "FLEX-SEAL" and let it dry in both open and closed positions, and the AXis never stopped assisting, or functioning, blade stayed honed, and cutting like a fresh sharp one.- rock of a knife.

Well the build quality is good but if you have working hands.the grips are terrible having dry hands working in the maintenance industry this knife is rather dangerous it is sharp and does hold an edge extremely well. But the plastic handles or scales feel like something you world expect to find on a 5 dollar walmart special. So build quality is excellent but if you work in machine or automotive maintenance.this is probably not the knife for you.if the handles were gripper I would absolutely love this knife and would have gave it a perfect review

The Barrage is my second Benchmade ... I bought my first knife (Griptilian Serrated) in 2007 and admittedly hesitated at the price - at the time I had heard good things about Benchmade knifes so I felt comfortable I was getting a quality knife. Nine years later I still carry the knife EVERYDAY and it remains a rock solid knife.

The Barrage ... I bought this knife in the Spring (2016) specifically for hunting this fall so I haven't had a chance to use it (however, this fall I will be using it to dress out an elk ;-) )

I decided to do a "custom build" with a serrated edge, orange handles and custom laser etching ... the quality and design of this knife is outstanding! Part of my decision was that this knife is USA made (over the last few years I make a point of looking for / buying USA made products only). I can see myself buying another knife in the future and I have been eyeing the Nestucca. The $$$ are a little higher than many knifes out there, but you are getting a high quality knife ... well worth he investment!!!

I purchased the mini-barrage for myself and liked it so much that I also bought one for my son. The quality and design of this knife is outstanding! You folks really do build a fantastic knife. Part of that for me in addition to being such great knives is the fact that they are USA made. That seals the deal for me. I have also purchased Benchmade knives as gifts for friends and they too have loved them. I can see myself buying more in the future and I have really been eyeballing your Saddle Mountain Skinner. That looks like the perfect hunting knife. Not too big but big enough.

Where to start? I've previously owned a high quality Benchmade knife before. That model was an Elishewitz, I believe it was a 905, but I can't recall as it was so long ago. At the time, I was working in Armed Security and wanted a quality pockete knife, something I could depend on if the situation required it. At that time, I had already owned some other nice knives, mostly from Cold Steel. I fell in love with the Elishewitz knife. It was such a high quality knife that I eventually sold my Cold Steel knife.

Sadly, I was parted with the knife as I had it with me on a vacation. I had unknowingly broken the law by carrying the knife over the border to Mexico. Of course, as it was illegal, the knife was taken from me and never returned. Honestly though, I got off easy, things could have been far worse, so losing the knife was perfectly acceptable. Sadly though, I had forgotten completely what the knife type was, so was unable to remember so that I could find a replacement in that time frame, so I never managed to get one to replace it.

Thankfully however, I finally found out the major mistake I had been making while searching for the knife and found my way back to Benchmade to replace it, but of course, as it has been over ten years since losing my original knife, I was too late to find an exact model like my last knife. It was at this time that I decided to replace it with a newer model knife, and decided that from the list of knives on this site, this model was the one that would make me recover from the loss of the original. Boy was I right. This knife is amazing. The build quality is top notch. The blade is perfectly centered and sharp. The material isn't heavy, it just exudes quality.

If your looking for a quality knife, this would be a highly recommended option. Benchmade knives are always superb. The price is great, considering that your buying an American knife and not something made overseas. If your interested in learning more, there are a few video's on YouTube that show the knife in action.

Just know, this knife is an assisted knife. There are states within the United States that make this type of knife illegal. Make sure before you order this knife that there are no laws preventing legal ownership in your neck of the woods.

I got my Barrage custom made on the Benchmade Custom site. I love this knife. I have all the bells and whistles on it and it opens as fast as an automatic. It is some kind of beautiful and ordered with the S30V blade. Came razor sharp and the laser engraving was perfect. My name on one side and my badge on the other, makes for a knife I will pass down to my son. If you haven't tried the custom knife maker, you owe it to your self. As always, Benchmade is the highest quality in the world and the customer service staff is fantastic.

I had this knife throughout my Naval career and it has served me well. Unfortunately I had lost it overboard fishing in my kayak!Hooked on to a fish and forgot it was in my lap (one very expensive fish). Anyways during the 5 years I had it, it never failed once. No issues what so ever. I loved the assist on it, always was very smooth and didn't have any problems. For a every day carry I highly recommend the barrage, the quality is outstanding and for the price it's very well worth it.

I had to replace a lost benchmade and went with the barrage due to the assisted action. Have never regretted this purchase. I've used it for multi tasks at the office, weekends, camping, hiking, etc. etc. Its my EDC. Somewhat large for suit pants, but I am ok with that and should I ever need it to do anything more than cutting inanimate objects, I know it is a tradeoff I'll never regret. Full confidence in this brand and this model. Recently, I lost one of the screws holding on the clip. I contacted support on how to purchase replacements, and was shocked at their offer to immediately ship me a set at zero cost. Try that with a china made product! Benchmade stands behind their product.

I was unsure about purchasing this knife, the price put me off I'll be completely honest. In my line of work I need a good dependable quality knife; but $100+ for a knife all I could think was that is ridiculous. Spoke with friends and people in the industry and read a lot of reviews and videos on Benchmade and I couldn't find a negative one, even better it's a USA product and I know US products are a little more but the quality is better than overseas crap. So I broke down and purchased this assist knife.

Well let me tell you this knife blew my socks off. The quality of the blade, handle, spring, safety and release are unmatched with anything that I have owned or handled (from Gerber to Kershaw to Ontario to SOG). The spring action on this knife is super strong and fast. The safety is easy access as well as the release to be able to fold the blade away. Not to mention the knife is just bad A looking. The detail in the knife is great, the feel of the knife in my hand is better feel than any other knife I have owned or used in my life so far. I was going to give price only 4 stars originally but the more I thought about it, but in honesty I think the price is just right for the quality, detail and design that this knife brings. Benchmade definitely just earned a lifelong customer, as I write this I'm deciding on the hunting knife and Auto knife that I am buying....

Bottom line if you want a top quality spring assist knife, buy this and you wont regret it!

I received this knife as a gift about five years ago and I've never looked back. I've come to expect a certain level of quality from Benchmade, as my father has carried them for decades, and this surpassed even my expectations. The assisted opening is as quick as any automatic I've ever seen and the blade holds it's edge exceptionally well, but if you do have to send it in for sharpening then it will be returned promptly and it'll be as sharp as the day you take it out of the box. I hardly ever go anywhere without my Barrage and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I have had more pocket knives throughout the years than I could possibly ever count. One or two really good knives, a couple dozen average ones, and then a bunch of end of the counter knives. The $5-$10 impulse buys next to the checkout stand at most any convenience store. It was not until I held this kind if in my hand for the first time that I knew it was far superior to anything I've owned in the past by far. I could tell by the packaging alone. It was in a box which contained a small black drawstring bag then surrounded by hard foam.
Once unveiled it was beautiful, the craftsmanship was apparent it had a nice heafty weight a thick rigid blade. When buying a knife it's could only be compared to racing a bicycle and a jet plane. Not even close.
Do yourself a favor and save for what you want instead or dealing with what you can easily afford.

I've owned this knife for a few months now and I would highly recommend it to any knife enthusiast. I ordered mine with a Tanto blade option and my only complaint is the difficulty in sharpening by hand (Benchmade does offer to sharpen the blade). The clip is very low profile and has not snagged on anything, and I do carry it everyday. The spring assist is very responsive but safe. Overall I am extremely satisfied and am looking forward to my next purchase.
