I have always been a huge Benchmade fan, I was introduced from my brother. My first benchmade purchase as the axis flipper, I carried this knife everywhere, everyday for about 6 months, I put my flipper to many tests, some I expected to failed, but it never did. Wanting to put it into retirement, and make my first step up in the collection, I chose the emissary 3.5 inch, aqua blue, with serrations. When I first opened the box, it had been carefully packed, and beautiful presented. I instantly slipped on my Benchmade lanyard, and made it a piece of art. The locking mechanism has more detail to it than I thought, with a gear like design, that I did not see in the initial picture. The spring assist blade lock is stiff and strong, and sounds with a satisfying pop. One issue I had with my Axis Flipper was the pocket clip bent and seemed weak, it need to be taken off and fixed periodically, this clip seems durable, and easier to work with. I thought the spring assist safe would look and feel cheesy, but it's actually class and adds an unique feature to the blade. I would give this knife a 10 out of 10, and if the price is stopping you, stop, buy the knife, it is 100% worth it. Some people say the aluminum anodized coating is too slick, I would have to disagree, my knife seemed to have a better initial grip than my Axis Flipper, which I thought was extremely slick, until 3 weeks in approximately. This is one of my favorite knives I have ever held, let
the alone owned, and it will bE my EDC for a very very long time.

I have multiple knives I rotate into and out of my EDC, depending on dress (business, uniform or casual) and my mood in the morning. The Emissary has been in heavy rotation since I received it. The model I have the aqua with no serrations. First the negative, there is just something about the anodized aluminum that is like fingernails on a chalkboard whenever I first have a knife, not sure what it is or if it is (likely) just me. Once I carried for about a week, the coating smoothed out and I now have no issues handling the knife. On th plus side, the size length is perfect for my needs and bonus, is legal where I carry it. The edge itself is SHARP with a needle fine tip which has been used for some fine cutting already. Of course with a fine tip this is not a knife you want to use as a ad hoc pry bar. The assist is solid and the blade deploys with a satisfying snap. The blade lock is a nice addition but I rarely employ it. All in all a great knife and I'm happy I made the purchase.

I purchased this knife about three months ago. I wanted a quality EDC knife and this one is great. It came very sharp and I am impressed with how well it holds an edge. I am a carpenter and use this knife everyday at work for cutting rope, zip ties, plastic and anything else that needs cutting. It is just as sharp as the day I bought it. I wouldn't use this knife for anything other than cutting, the blade is fairly thin and probably would not hold up to prying or being used as a screwdriver.
