I purchased the Foray as my first EDC Benchmade. At first sight, my first thought, "Wow." Then I opened it. This was my first Benchmade ever, though I'm almost sixty and live a life of knives, I was genuinely impressed in a good way. The Axis lock superb, the smooth operation excellent. The attention to detail on the actuation button, and the pivot screw head are quite pleasant.

The drop point blade is extremely sharp and the shape exquisite. A nice thick blade which should prove very tough. The CPM-20-CV steel holds an amazing edge. I've not sharpened it yet, but am prepared to take some time.

I know it to be a great whittling knife. The handle, a bit too short for my hand to grip naturally, but thick enough to grip well.

I carried it for some time and then purchased a 940 Osborne. I will keep the Foray, though its beefier handle affects clip carry comfort. It is an amazingly functional blade with captivating design.

I would buy the knife again, but likely not as an everyday carry. It's worth the price, especially if your hand fits the handle well.

Great knife, I was looking at a replacement or a supplement to my 943 which is my EDC. Only problem I have is the clip isnt as tight and does not touch the body of the knife. I worry I am going to loose it. I might have to send it in to get looked at.

I got the 698 Foray for Christmas and absolutely love it. It is an overbuilt (in a good way) Gentleman's folder. The Foray has the perfect combination of toughness and class. It is very easy to open/close (one handed with axis lock), is extremely sharp, and has a relatively deep clip. Until now, I have EDC either a CRKT M16 (casual dress) or Mcusta MC-5 Damascus (slacks and tie), which are both great. The 698 fits both contexts, and I like it the most.

Benchmade hit another home run with this one, solid lock up and easy to deploy. I really appreciate the axis lock on this design, there was no skimping On the details for this blade, good job Bemchmade 2016 is looking great already
