Bought it as my hard working knife, used it through years of daily carry, several countries and a week in salt water, it's been through it all. The spring got a bit rusty, and the mechanism gets tough when packed with mud and dust, but that's it. Bought with the M390, absolutely worth the money. Tested it and it surprisingly came out to a true 60 Rockwell. Harder steel stays sharp longer, but you have to be much more careful not to break it. The different steels don't mean anything unless you can sharpen properly. Very disappointed how the factory edge came, however, as this thing can hold an edge down to 17 degrees and when taken up to 80,000 grit stone, its a perfect mirror. Factory edge was put through a mediocre grinding wheel that totally ignored the best part of having a hard steel.

I have the 484-1. This knife is truly a gentleman's EDC. The s90v still is incredible, elegant, and razor sharp. As sharp as any knife can possibly be. It also looks super premium. It's the best steel of any Benchmade knife. The carbon fiber is super strong and feels really nice in the hand. The knife has great grip holds and the blue anodized aluminum definitely adds to the high class look. This knife is in my opinion the best you can get at Benchmade material wise. No steel or handle material is better. The knife is also super well designed by Nakamura and has an aggressive forward leaning look throughout. If you want the best EDC that Benchmade makes then get the Namkamura Axis 484-1. You will definitely not be disappointed in any way.

I went to purchase a CLA, but couldn't pass on this. After seeing the great features, I was pulled away from the Auto CLA. I think the Nakamura AXIS® is a functional work of art. The S90V blade is incredible. The Carbon Fiber is beautiful. The Blue Anodized accents and spacers set it apart. I could not ask for anything more except for a Auto-open option.

This knife is almost perfect. I have the standard version with the M390 steel. M390 is a super premium steel and after cutting open tons of boxes, the edge is just as sharp as the day I got it. It is expensive, but the steel you get is worth it. This knife is small enough to carry every day, but big enough to be tacti-cool if you need it to be, thanks to the amazing gimping and finger grooves.(perfect gimping) The finger grooves are very nice, although they are made for someone with medium to small hands. The only flaw with this knife is the thumb stud. It is big and easy to open which is great from a tactical standpoint, but it is actually too big and too easy too open. The thumb stud can get caught on the fabric of your pocket.Several times when deploying it from my pocket it opened on its own. This could lead to an accident. The solution? Wear it on your hip. I prefer carrying on my hip anyway so it's no problem for me, but if you plan on pocket carry only, you may want to consider a different bench made.

This is a really nice blade, I have the carbon fiber scaled one, it opens and closes effortlessly, super sharp out of the box and is really compact, that s90v blade holds an edge like no other, it's almost a safe queen but to useful and purdy to leave at home.
