| FOR IMMEADIATE RELEASE:
One of Benchmade's all time best selling knives is now even better
November 3, 2008, OREGON CITY, Ore. - Benchmade Knife Company is proud to announce the release of the mission ready 9051AFO II. Based on the 9050AFO, the 9051 advances a proven tool used in all branches of the Armed Forces.
The 9051AFO II incorporates major improvements:
- Its push button lock mechanism is 30% stronger and opens faster, increasing spring power and force, as well as safety
- A newly enhanced ergonomic handle provides more grip
- An open back-spacer allows for easy maintenance, making it easier to clean and prevent the collection of oil or mud
- An increased finger guard and a larger button allow for ease of deployment with a gloved hand
- A newly added glass breaker, made of hardened steel is on the end of the handle
The Army Evaluation Task Force performed tests on the 9051AFO II, including impact tests and salt water tests. "This knife exceeded our expectations, and performed better than all other knives we evaluated" said SFC Kevin Reagan, BDE Small Arms Master Gunner. The 9051 was the only auto-opening knife that passed the salt-water test.
"The 9051 is the next generation AFO taking its roots from the time tested 9050AFO," said Project Manager James Westerfield. He noted,"all aspects of the knife were examined with a fresh look at materials, mechanisms and user features. The result is a knife that opens faster, is easier to clean and maintain, and is built strong enough for toughest uses."
Benchmade CEO Les De Asis added, "Benchmade takes great pride in designing and manufacturing superior tools to assist our military personnel in efficiently and successfully performing their missions. The 9051 lives up to our commitment to quality."

The 9051AFO II comes with a hooded, ballistic nylon sheath for belt or lashed carry. Three blade configurations are available: 9051 priced at $230, the 9051BK priced at $245, and 9051SBK priced at $245. |
