I bought the g10 configuration because the other was not available at the time where i made my purchase. Sheath screws came loose and were lost in the woods.I now have a non functional sheath.

I've had my Hidden Valley Hunter (stabilized wood with leather sheath) for about two years.I originally purchased to clean and trim meat prior to smoking. I loved using the thing so much, it turned into an everyday carry. The look, feel, edge, quality are all excellent. I highly recommend.

I picked up this 15016-2 as soon as I spotted it. It is perfectly set with a Short 1/4 wide blade. I can break down everything from Quail to B I G Game. I am thankful for such a Great tool to Carry. I as well would purchase it right away again.

I bought this knife to add to my collection and use for cleaning game (mainly white tail deer). The knife performs flawlessly. it fits well in the hand and travels well in the horizontal draw sheath. I enjoy carrying it and like that it carries horizontally. I have many cleaning knives that are tried and true, but this one as close to the top in my book and a favorite to use. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a compact fixed blade.

I got my hidden canyon hunter at the beginning of the 2016 deer hunting season. On the factory sharpen I was able to gut, skin, and quarter 4 deer and 10 pigs among other small game. My edge has slightly dulled out but it's still plenty sharp to skin and quarter more animals. I got it in the dymondwood handle the leather sheath fits the knife much better than the kydex sheath does in my opinion. Over all the blade length was just right any shorter and there wouldn't be enough cutting surface but to much longer it would have felt awkward using the knife. It has extremely good edge retention with s30v steal and fits in my hand perfectly. I would extremely recommend this knife to any avid hunter whos looking for a good blade.

This is a beautiful EDC carry knife for those of us who like fixed blades (or live in areas where assisted openers are illegal) but don't want long tactical spikes (or who can't use those because of legalities). It's perfectly sized for this.

I concur with Dan on the index sheath, it has issues but it's an otherwise great knife. The kydex sheath can be modified though. I trimmed back the kydex about 1/3-1/2" and it's a lot easier to draw. That said, the retention drops with the ease of draw and that I plan on fixing by adding a rivet in behind the rear most rivet. I have already tested it by pinching it while drawing and voila, the retention is back to a reasonable level. If anyone at Benchmade is reading, your sheath can be cured by simply moving back the two bottom rivets about 1/4". You can then drop off most of the material covering the handle. It's essentially the same profile on the sheath, but smaller.

I bought this knife as an EDC knife. I wanted a knife to carry horizontally on my belt. I bought the black one to get the kydex sheath. That turned out to be a waste. The sheath covers too much of the handle and is so tight it makes drawing the knife difficult. I also have a difficult time resheathing the knife without cutting the sheath. So, I have sent the knife out to have a custom made sheath made. I like the knife and hope the custom sheath makes it usable for my purposes.

This knife has been the perfect additions to my hunting pack. Having carried several knives in the past including Case, Buck, Gerber and some customs, this knife has earned a full time place in the pack. The size and shape of this knife allows great control when processing game animals. I have used the knife on 3 white tail deer this year and it has held a great edge with only a light touch up. The handle fits the hand well and the blade length and shape are very controllable when working around guts and internals. 2 thumbs up from me.
