I've carried a pocket knife for as long as I can remember, and the Sequel is, without doubt, the best every day carry (EDC) knife I've owned. As my EDC knife for five years I've used it for all manner of things: cutting boxes, letter opener, cutting food from fruit to meats and cheese, etc..., pulling out splinters, stripping wire, removing staples, gardening work, opening all manner of heavy bags like dog food, charcoal, etc..., general whittling, and other things, too.

What sets this knife apart, though is its size and build quality. As a manual with a blade under 3" is legal in every state in the USA. The aluminum handle is slender enough to easily fit in my pocket (I never use the clip). The AXIS locking system is solid as a rock, and once broken in and with a bit of practice its easy to open and close with one hand (either hand, as its ambidextrous). After five years as my EDC there isn't the hint of a wiggle. Its VERY sharp and holds its edge very well. In fact, I had it sharpened for the first time at a gun show a couple of months ago, and the man said it still had a pretty good edge to it. The appearance of the knife is also very mellow, which is a good thing. I don't want to pull out a pocket knife and alarm people.

The Mini-Grip seems to get all the press, but for the extra money the Sequel is a far better EDC knife. Aluminum and steel lining handle versus plastic, and the Sequel's handle is 20% thinner than the Mini Grip's which, when its in your front pocket all day is a big deal. I carried a Mini-Grip for a couple of years and bought the Sequel when I lent the Mini-Grip to my daughter. The Mini-Grip is a darn fine knife, but the Sequel is as good an EDC knife as I've ever owned.
