I have been shopping for an everyday carry OTF over the last few months. Bought a couple of competing models from the MTech corporation and while they were nice the price paid just made them safe queens. When I ran across the Benchmade HK Turmoil, I was excited. A sub $200 OTF in a smaller size than most OTF's on the market. A high priority for me was the need to comfortably fit in dress pants and jeans in addition to tac pants, so the Turmoil really fits the bill in the size department. When gripping, I get all 4 fingers on the handle plus have room for about another finger (so not too small and not too big). The quality of workmanship is excellent. While I wouldn't specifically select the matte finish, it is very tactile and much more functional than a smooth glossy surface. I also like that the screw heads aren't some proprietary security style that the user can't service or clean. I am assuming it is a milled handle and I find no noticeable machining marks. If it is forged they tumbled it very well. Fit and finish is very nice and the stonewash blade was factory sharpened quite nicely. Laser etching indicates the D2 material and USA as well as the Model # 14808 and HK. One really nice feature in the extra "hump" opposite of the lever side. It definitely would prevent any accidental slippage onto the blade! It is a hump plus milled grooves. Very pleased with model and the price point was perfect for my needs as an EDC.
