This is a beautiful knife. I love every aesthetic about this knife. I often find myself cleaning the blade, everything seems to stick to this m390 steel. There's almost always a stubborn residue after every cut, no matter the material. I've also scratched it a few times with improper sharpening motions. Other than that, this knife has met all expectations. Custom lasermarks were perfect. The knife doesn't grab attention. It's easy to sharpen. I've had no problems with rust. Sometimes I scratch whatever I'm sitting on, the clip is so aggressive. I love the AXIS and I love the manual opening action. Perfect EDC

I own a number of small folders that could work as an EDC. When you work in an office, a "full sized folder sticks out like a battle axe:" I work as a CPA in an office, and no one has even noticed the Valet in my pocket....which wasn't the case with Benchmade/Emerson CQC-7 that I carried for close to twenty years. I am shocked at how much better at holding an edge the M390 steel in this blade is relative to the ATS-34 steel in the 1990's CQC-7.

If you need an EDC that no one will notice, but you will be thrilled with, this is your knife.

Scrutinized the measurements for weeks before deciding on this as small and subtle enough for EDC in all environments. Sweet and smooth opening. Solid and smooth lock. Exceptional in every way! Great job Benchmade! You don't disappoint.

The 485 valet is a perfect for anyone looking for an amazing and formal edc knife. the spear point/drop point blade style leaves an amazing amount of belly on the blade that is very utilitarian as well as having a sharp tip perfect for any piercing task you may encounter. m390 is the best steel that i have ever come across. this is an immensely light and slim knife which is perfect for my needs. it is very comfortable to hold and use with a perfectly shaped finger groove in the handle. i would recommend this knife to anyone who wants a light, functional and very formal edc knife. There is no room for improvement
