It took me a while to warm up to this knife. I don’t know why. Maybe I was looking for something showier. In any case, I’d had it for some time before I paid attention. Now it looks just about perfect.

The size is right for me--easy to carry and large enough to use. It doesn’t seem like a cut-down version of a larger knife. The G10 grip has a sculpted form different from many flat, two-dimensional shapes. It is very light.

The assist is aggressive. There is spring pressure all the way to the open, locked position. It opens easily, but it’s no mousetrap and the safety lock is not really needed. One-handed closing is not comfortable and not secure; I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone but a card sharp.

Mine is nicely made, but the design somewhat obscures that. The factory edge (S30V) is nothing special and could stand a tuneup.

This is my second favorite Benchmade behind my Volli. The blade deployment on this knife is incredibly fast and the lockup is perfect. I love the blade style, it has plenty of belly and is long enough for most needs. I am not a fan of the valox scales, they feel cheap. I haven't had any performance issues or anything, but then again I haven't abused the knife. I will definitely be ordering a custom from Benchmade at some point just so I can get some G10 scales, I appreciate the mini at least that much. Perfect for medium/small hands, might not be enough purchase for larger hands.

I just bought this knife to commemorate my daughter. Got it in custom colors, no serrations, small clip; all the things that would suit me on my climbing harness. Nothing about this knife was my first choice, including all of the previously mentioned.

Every knife I have has to serve a purpose, and I thought you needed a lot of steel and handle to get the job done. I was wrong. The working edge, because of no serrations, is as long, if not longer than other large knives I have. It is a perfect tool that fits in my hand with no unnecessary bits. The weight is down and it’s inconspicuous.

This knife, not only the materials, but the size, has opened my eyes to the need and uslefulness of smaller dedicated blades, rather than jack of all trades. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I've owned a few other brands of assisted opening knives and you can really tell the difference between Benchmade and others. Rock solid deployment of the blade and the Axis lock is amazing. Carried a 531 for about a year, daily and used it often. The 531 is still perfectly centered and solid.....and a beautiful blade as well! Decided to switch to the mini Barrage for easier use with non dominant hand. Couldn't be happier with my Benchmade knives! Customer service has been excellent as well.

Seriously people if you are on the fence about this bad boy, just buy it. I've owned it for a couple months now. I did the custom order added that M4 blade to it did the fancy engraving. No pitting or rust. Get yourself a diamond sharpener and shes ready to rock. I am buying 2 more. I hear the deep carry clip is pretty zesty with this beautiful knife. But all in all it's well worth the $$$. Nice job benchmade, you guys rock and so does your customer service.

I purchased the Benchmade 585 a few years ago and it one of my most frequently carried knives.
It would be a perfect EDC (for me) with different handle material as I find that the Valox has little if any grip. Feels slippery to me. The deep carry clip that Benchmade sent me at no charge is perfect as it now stays securely in the pockets of all types of pants materials.
The addition of a glass breaker would make the Barage 585 indispensable!

This is the 4th Mini Barrage I've purchased if that tells you anything about what I think of the knife. My only issue is I wish they'd bring back more color options when they first started the custom knife builder. Love the knife and I'm sure it won't be my last Benchmade.

I've wanted a Benchmade for a long time. For years I have been settling for something more in my price range and liking (but not loving) it because of the blade quality, weight, or overall feel. Within a short time I would find myself on the hunt for a new knife.

Then about 4-5 months ago I purchased the Mini Barrage (satin plain edge blade) with Valox handle as a present to myself.

Hands down this has been my BEST knife purchase and the first time I have not started looking for my next knife.

If you are looking for an EDC knife versatile enough that you can carry whether in the office or elsewhere...then you need to give this knife serious consideration.

Pros:
* The weight and balance is great for an assisted opener. It seems like the assisted openers run a little heavier. I've become spoiled with assisted openers over the last several years so that functionality was a must.
* Assisted opener - Benchmade makes the best that I have tried to date. It opens with a positive feel.
* Construction - There is no wiggle.
* Size - Perfect for an EDC. It's slightly shorter than my last knife, but I have not missed the length.
* Blade - I've never had a knife so sharp out of the box and it has done great retaining the edge. No spotting or rusting on the blade.
* Valox handle - I was not familiar with this material, but it has a good feel and looks much better than the G10 in this model in my opinion.

Love this thing, I carry it everyday and use it all the time. It springs open every time and feels solid no matter what I'm cutting. The blade quality is great for the price. Awesome gift right here for anyone getting into knives.

My first folding benchmade, custom with s30v and nylon handle. Came out of the box very sharp. Carried in my pocket for a couple months, but waited till hunting season to leave a review. Just for fun... field dressed, skinned, quartered and boned my first deer of the season with this little pocket knife. Still had a decent edge and NO wiggle when I was done. Couple strokes on the DMT whetstone and it was hair poppin sharp again. Won't use it for this again (benchmade bushcrafter handles most of my hunting chores) but nice to know it's up to the task. It will stay in my pocket till I misplace it. Highly recommend.

Lovely little blade to carry around the pocket. The assist just feels great when it smacks open. The steel comes with a pretty good heat treat. Holds an edge well, and picks up an aggressive edge easy. Doesn't rust easy, then again, i've never brought it near salt water. edge profile slices well.

I bought the Mini-Barrage with S30V plain satin blade and the G10 handle as my gift to my son on his 18th birthday. I wanted something nice but something he could use everyday that would last as long as the memory. He was really happy with the gift and I feel confident it was a great entry point for him into adulthood and understanding the value of having a very well made and dependable blade. Thanks Benchmark for a quality USA made product.

I ordered a Mini-Barrage serrated blade,G-10 horizontal texture, CPM-20CV blade. This knife is a stunner, absolutely exceeded my expectations, the assisted Axis Lock takes a bit of getting used to. Once you do get used to it, wow it is fast as lightening. The balance between size and heft is perfect. I work in an office, where I would be concerned that an assisted knife with a larger blade might cause a problem..not with this. There is enough blade for an EDC while it feels like a Benchmade....very well done.

I've owned a lot of knives over the last 30 years. Once I found the Mini Barrage I knew that I found my perfect knife for everyday carry. I love this knife so much that I purchase two more, one for a backup for when I have to ship my knife back for the Ever Sharp service (takes about a week btw) and I carry the backup till it needs to be sharpened. Even bought one that was custom made with Navy printed on the blade w/Blue handle for my daughter who's currently serving in the Navy. She loves it as much as I love the two I own. Can't recommend this knife enough.

My wife bought the mini barrage for our anniversary. At first i was scared to use it because i didnt want to damage the beauty. Once i started using the knife thats when i began to enjoy the knife even more. I bought this knife for myself about a year ago and returned it to get the upgraded Griptilian with G10 handles and CPM S20V steel. I missed my mini barrage enough to get another need i say more?

This is my everyday carry knife. It's is larger than my old Case trapper pocket knife I carried for 40 years. It took a little time to get used to having a knife this size but now I wouldn't carry anything less. The spring is awesome for quick deployment of the blade and is extremely sharp, I swear it gets sharper the more I use it. Perfect knife for everyday carry and the grip is very comfortable.

After purchasing this exact knife for several folks at work and one for my son, I finally decided that I need one as well. I am very impressed with the quality of the mini-barrage and how well they are made. I really like the blade length and shape. It is fantastic for a very large variety of tasks. The handle shape and size is also just right. I really like the additional lock on the blade also. Having a knife close on your hand could result in severe injuries. I think you folks hit the nail on the head with this one!

This knife is smaller than I anticipated. Which is ok if that's what you want. I don't have big hands and this knife feels a bit small to me. It's so light I forget it's in my pocket. It's ligter than the iPhone 6s I keep in my pocket. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

What more do I need to say? This has been in my EDC for the past two years. In that time I have used this knife countless times, flicked it open to fix problems from the Appalachian Trail to my garage. This knife has been used and abused.

One time while on a camping trip, my friend's son wanted to take a look at the knife. Despite my safety briefing, the young boy proceeded to start stabbing my blade into the ground. I was horrified. Luckily the 154CM blade survived the abuse, and with a little stonework it was good as new.

Could not say enough great things about Benchmade, frankly because I'm not going to NEED to buy another knife for a very long time.

... Now if I want to, that's another story.

I bought my knife a little over two years ago and it has been clipped on my pocket every day since. The knife is strong, does not wobble and the lock is just the same. The assist acts quick and strong and you feel very confident that it is locked and ready to go. The blade is very sharp from the get go, and it remains as such for a fair amount of time. I have sharpened my mini-barrage a few times and it has always been able to regain the sharpness with ease. Also, Benchmade offers their LifeSharp service to allow them to sharpen it as well as fine tune the knife, which is great. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good, solid, robust EDC knife.

I am very pleased with my mini barrage. The assisted opening is very strong and the 154CM steel is also impressive. I carry mine almost everyday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Benchmade to my friends and family.
