First off I bought a custom mini grip. This knife is perfect. Completed exactly as ordered. To compare what makes it better than every other 3” non flipper you might be considering. Action, better than a small sebenza (you could get used to stabbing your thumb every time you open it though...) and a delica (ya lock backs are stronger but where is the fun in that). Qc, perfectly centered and even grinds. Materials, G10 shows no snail trails, 20cv is a beast. You hear that Chris reeves? S35vn for 350+ with a warranty that isn’t as good as benchmade. You can buy what you want and say that the grip should cost less. But think about the fact it is USA made and if it needs repairs from normal use they got you, forever. The only negative thing I can say might bother you is their handle to blade ratio is too good. Meaning if you have over large hands like me the scales are a little small. But you bought a 3” knife so ya.

This is my favorite EDC knife. I use it with the pocket clip. The blade remains sharp through all sorts of use and abuse. The mechanism worked very well when I received it, and was even more smooth and well tuned the one time I sent it in for sharpening (do it! you will like the result!).

I like the look of the blue liner on the gray handle. A little more elegant and a little less intimidating than an all black knife during a real emergency, like cutting up paracord for arts and crafts at a girl scouts event ;-).

Just so you know its an option, I work somewhere that restricts blade length to 2.5 inches. The mini griptilian has a blade that was about 2.8 inches. Benchmade was totally awesome about nicely agreeing to grind it down a bit and resharpen my knife so I could carry it at work.

This is the least expensive folding knife Benchmade makes, but it is by no means cheap. The clean design, size and quality materials make this the perfect every day carry. The mini griptillian is equally suited for hunting/camping as it is around the house or at the office. I have "better" and more expensive knives but this one remains my go to.

Benchmade has the best customer service on the face of the Earth! They sent me a FREE mini grip because they weren't able to laser mark my name on my mini grip that I sent in because it has a black coating and I guess the laser machine can't etch over it. But instead of simply giving me like a coupon for 30% off and an apology, they decided my customer loyalty was worth a new $130 knife, so they sent back my coated knife AND a second gorgeous serrated bead-blasted bladed mini grip with my name in the Old English font I originally picked out. I will now only purchase Benchmade's directly from the factory and buy them for my blade collection and for loved ones as gifts for the holidays because I am so touched by the amazing customer dedication they have, truly unheard of. This is a company who loves thier customers and treats them like family

I bought the drop point 154cm satin blade with black GFN handles. Great little knife. Came out of the box razor sharp (I was literally able to carve shapes in paper). The 90 degree spine will throw sparks off of a ferro rod and shave fluff from a piece of fatwood so if you are a backpacker/bushcrafter this is a good little pocket knife. The handle is just a hair small for someone with large or XL hands though so if you have bigger hands like me it may feel a little small. The blade centering on mine was a hair off out of the box as well. Not a deal breaker though. I've been testing it doing EDC tasks, wood processing, food slicing, and firemaking tasks for a couple of hours now and it still has a nasty sharp edge and the deployment and lock still work excellently well. The deployment and closing is butter smooth thanks to the bronze bushings in the pivot. I would like to see a deep carry pocket clip on it but the one it comes with keeps it in pocket quite well. I hiked 2 miles through some rough terrain with it to my test site and not once did I feel like it was going to come out of my pocket. Overall I would recommend it and I do intend to get my hands on the full size Griptilian as well. Materials are a solid 4 out of 5 (S30V blade steel would have gotten it a 5 out of 5), ergonomics are a 4 out of 5 only because it is just a tad too small in the handle, durability is a full 5 out of 5, speaking from experience with other 154CM steel knives I have tested I'll give this one a 4 out of 5 on ease of sharpening, price point is a 4 out of 5 because it is a bit expensive ($98 at the store I got it from) for a knife of this size, lockup is a 5 out of 5, and ease of deployment is also 5 out of 5 because it is one of the smoothest knives I have ever used. My overall likability on this one is a 4.5 out of 5 because while it is a great blade I do have a few minor gripes with the centering being off out of the box, the price, and the tiny handle. Definitely worth a buy if you want a good lightweight pocket knife.

What's the best knife? The one you have with you. This is a superbly made knife but it's standout feature by far is how easy it is to slip into a pocket or clip into a bag. I've purchased several of these knives for teammates and family members who never previously carried a knife and all have loved it. My personal every day carry knife is a customized model with 20cv steel and the sheepsfoot blade profile. The axis lock is solid and easy to disengage once done, the grips are excellent in both g10 and FRN, and the variety of options alone is a huge feature. This is a great knife for anyone to add to their pocket and will stand the test of time, especially with Benchmade's warranty. My one criticism is that I wish the base model came in s30v but it's really only steel snobs that would care or notice.

I got the Cabela's Exclusive D2 of this guy and I couldn't be happier. Beautiful little Every Day Carry that fits in to my medium sized hands. Also great for precise little cuts or work, as well as the axis lock makes this easy and safe to operate with one hand. I will certainly be getting one for my girlfriend, since she likes the size and feel of it. Only draw back I have with the D2 is it doesn't have a great edge retention compared to other steel, but its still good, and holds up well enough while slicing through cardboard boxes at work. Over all, great little EDC.

This is quite possibly the perfect size EDC. A bit small for the hand but that’s easily taken care of by putting a paracord lanyard on. A blade an additional 1/2” would not make much difference if I had to defend myself with it. Like firearms, I place far more importance in skill of use than size. I also keep my mini Grip razor sharp at all times, so I’m ready for anything friendly or not.

I have two of these. Beat the hell out of them. All the stuff you shouldn’t do wit a knife. Screw driver, pry bar, etc and it’s held up great! Got the 154-CM blade. Holds a good edge.

My state has a 3-inch concealed carry limit and I bought the 20CV G10 mini-Grip for EDC. The pivot was too tight out of the box but that was easy to fix and the blade was slightly off-center but not critically close to the handle.

I kept the knife and I’m glad I did. The blade is excellent and easy to sharpen. The handle is rock solid as is the locking mechanism. Really, this is one good-looking, well-built knife—very sturdy—and it’s so light you forget you’re carrying it.

One possible drawback you might want to consider before buying is that the handle is only 3.87 inches long-—it’s a small knife. I can get four barehanded fingers on the handle but it’s a tight fit and with work gloves my little finger goes off the handle. Otherwise, it’s an excellent small EDC knife.

I have had several EDC knives over the years, but none come close to the quality of this Benchmade. The blade holds its edge very well, and its opening and closing mechanism make one handed use convenient and safe.

I bought the mini grip several years ago from my local knife shop and it's been in my pocket every day since. To put it simply it's the best knife I've ever owned and I'd feel naked without it!

The Mini Griptillian has gotten me addicted to EDC flippers. The quality of this knife is outstanding and it has been my every day knife for just under a year. Being my first pocket knife (used to carry a larger fixed blade for USCG time), at first it seemed pretty tight. But by working the mechanism it broke in perfectly and I can now flip it with a flick, easy. I am a woman with small hands, and this knife sits in both my hand and front pocket perfectly and discreetly. I can take it almost anywhere with no issue or concern. In fact I got this knife on recommendation of another woman who'd been in the Army recently - she had said it was the best small knife out there. I like everything about it, and from my CG time I strongly favor having some serrations, which my mini-Grip has. The lock is unbelievably strong and reliable, and I have used it to cut paper, line, twine, tape, boxes, to dig/pry stuff in dirt, and to sharpen sticks. Highly, highly recommend for anyone starting out or any woman looking for a small but strong and well-crafted knife. Thanks, Benchmade.

Let me start by saying that this could be my favorite out of the dozen Benchmade folders I own. This was an experiment with the Custom Builder.....Green G10 with vertical texture, serrated tanto blade made with S30V steel and a manual Access Lock. This knife snuck on me....small and light enough to be used with scalpel precision yet the handle is large enough to feel like a folding knife. Strongly suggest putting a small lanyard on it if you carry in a pocket. This version probably cost double what the base knife does and worth every penny

The knife itself is of superior quality and craftsmanship. Bought the mini 856bk with 20CV and G10 thinking I'd like the small carry profile, but it was simply to small for my hand. I highly recommend the knife on its merits, but recommend you handle in person or measure your hand to see if it's s right fit.

I recieved the plain edged drop point for Christmas. And I am in love.
I'm actually from southern Ontario Canada, where carrying an edc knife isn't very common. However this knife is nice and discreet. It's short blade length also provides a less threatening profile while still getting the job done. When I got the knife the pivot was really tight, but after a little playing with it, I loosened it up to meet the local laws and it performs wonderfully. With a quick flip of the thumb stud, the blade flys out and is ready to use.the axis lock is The best I've ever used. The fit and finish are perfect, and you can really tell every design detail was considered. I have carried this knife everyday for a month and a half now, and I will continue to do so. This is a dream knife.
Thanks for the great knife benchmade.

Bought my first Benchmade, this knife, on eBay for my daughter. I have never regretted it, nor has she. She's 26 now and I am pretty sure still carries it everyday, although she can't have weapons where she works (restricted facility). I strongly believe everyone should buy one of these for any of the young ladies in their life who have not yet started with knives by around their 18th birthday. The lifetime service policy makes it a phenomenally good deal.

I picked up a version off of the custom shop in M4 steel with a drop point blade. This is definitely a knife that I will have for the rest of my life. The edge is still scary sharp after using it for a while. It rides well in my pocket and cuts like a dream. Honestly, it might be too high quality for the price. I cut through some rope and there was some left on the blade, so I wiped it off with my fingers moving away from the cutting edge though and still managed to nick my finger. I love this knife

This is my first of many Benchmade Knives and I can truly say I will probably be passing it on to my kids. If I don't get greedy. The Tanto is easy to sharpen and holds an edge well. The black finish protects the blade and has done it's job well. The serration is effective at everything from rope to flesh. Very happy with this knife. Thank you, Benchmade.

I had this knife customised to my liking and it was a great decision. It preforms amazingly, holds a great edge and is easy to sharpen. It has a wicked edge right out of the box and will cut through anything, and hold up great to any task you throw it at. I use it daily outdoors and in and it barely looks any different than the day i bought it 2 years ago and I've only had to sharpen it a few times. Benchmade hit it home with this original product, nothing like it and worth more than the money you are paying.
