I carry this all the time and don't ever feel the weight of a heavy knife. Had it with me on a recent moose trip and used it on my bull. Started sharp and finished sharp!

Was looking at the knife for about two months and decided on getting it. Out the box was surprisingly light and sharp! I work in a tire manufacturing plant so the blue handle is a good feature because I don’t have to worry about loosing it. Only thing I would change is have the blade coated so I don’t have to keep cleaning it because I want it to last as long as possible. For the price you can’t beat it since it is a benchmade.

I broke down and bought this, little Gem fro Blade HQ. the ranger green model. It is a handsome little devil and a great light weight edc knife. A knife for a bugout situation, I think I would prefer something more substantial. But then again the first task I used it for it held up just fine. I had to dismantle and cut down a huge box that a recent car top purchase had plopped down in my living room. This box was sturdy and big and had hidden industrial sized staples hidden throughout the box. The little Bugout handled it well, I did manage to roll a bit,of the edge when I found a hiding staple, a big staple at that. A quick few swipes of the Spyderco sharp maker fixed edge and brought it back to sharp.

I was a little hesitant about buying this knife as the price seemed a bit steep for the materials used. My fears were for not this is a solid knife and well constructed with no blade play and fairly centered. I love how it just slips into my pocket and disappears with no discernible weight. I liked how it tackled the large box without any problems and I was not being gentle with the knife.

Ok Benchmade I really, like this, knife and,it has been riding in my front pocket since I purchased it a couple of weeks ago. The blade shape is outstanding and as such I have a request. Make a super bugout. Lengthen the blade to 3.5 inches, run the steel liners down the length of the handle? Put a set of green Micarta scales on it and beef the width of the blade a bit... that would be a bugout knife for sure and betmit would sell li,e crazy.oh and change the steel to either CPM S35V or CPM M4and you wont be able to keep it in stock?

Amazing knife with amazing S30V blade steel. The action is amazing and habit-worthy. I love the weight on this, it disappears in your pocket. I know many people are complaining about the "cheap feel" of the knife but I can assure you that the grivory is durable. It might feel cheap to you but it is an excellent performing knife.

The Bugout is my ideal EDC knife! It is incredibly lightweight which is perfect for days when I have to wear a suit and head into the office. The knife is well constructed and the blade steel is excellent, I really like the blue color of the handle as well as the blue accents on the thumb stud and liner. Deep pocket clip is a big plus for carrying in the office. The handle is the perfect size for my hand, and it truly excels at day to day cutting tasks.

Out of the box the blade was hair shaving sharp and the grind was perfect. The action was just a little stiff, but it was still easy to open and close with one hand.

Overall I would highly recommend this knife for light and medium duty tasks and is perfect for everyday carry.

Its a lightweight knife that does what it can. I wouldn't consider this for anything particularly rugged, but it is excellent for casual use. This knife has EDC all over it, light weight to almost be unnoticeable and a low silhouette to be nice and hidden in the pocket. Also i find the dark blue handle charming and nice to look at. My only complaint is that, while i dont question the quality of this product, the handle FEELS brittle. Not saying that it is, but i remember the first thing in my mind when i took this baby out of the box was "I'm going to break this" But it's taken its place as my favorite EDC knife whether that be to open something at work, get some wood shavings or make some kindling.

I purchased this knife as a hiking/EDC knife. This thing came scalpel sharp out of the box. Benchmade does an awesome job with their S30V steel. It holds an edge for a long time. Even after 6 hours of hammering on this knife it is still able to shave hair. I will say from past experience with S30V steel that it is a bear to sharpen though. The handle on this knife is super comfortable and it fits my large size hands very well. Blade centering is perfect out of the box as well. The bushings in the pivot make the deployment very smooth and the thumb studs are easy to access. Lockup is also extremely solid. All of this combined with the ultra light weight makes this an excellent knife and I strongly recommend it. Watch for my review on my youtube channel (Woodland Warrior) in about a week for more details and in action shots on the Benchmade 535 Bugout. I also have reviews of tons of other knives and gear.

Why dont more manufacturer's make thin bladed knives? Benchmade knocked it out of the park this is the in between griptilian size knife that cuts like a laser. Thank you benchmade i hope you make a larger version too. Please hurry up with the sprints and exclusives. I want a m4,s90v,m390 and my holy grail would be a cpm 3v version with the newest low temp treatment. Delta 3v if you will. I promise you could not keep them in stock. Thanks again benchmade.

It’s crazy how light it is and yet its strength isn’t compromised. It’s built well, and the blade is fantastic!

Great knife, comes very sharp, carries low in the pocket and the lightweight makes for a forgettable carry knife that is tough and does what it needs to do when you need it.
Four-star rating was for the price.
Blue handle is great and black clip needs to be on every knife.
As mentioned Benchmade you need to make a black handle with a black low carry clip.

I've owned many Benchmade knives and loved every single one of them. Disapointed this one comes in only a blue handle. If a black handle was available I'd buy one today.

I love this knife its super slim and light and disappears in its pocket. I love the blue it adds s unique touch to the knife and makes it less intimidating to others when i pull it out to use. The only reason it doesn’t get all 5 out of fives is that it is a little over priced id like to see it at 100$ and because of the famous quality control issues. My knife was fine except the edge grind wasn’t 100% the same on both sides luckily i used my lansky sharpener to fix the edge and it only took 5 mins. I love this knife and will definitely continue to buy benchmade in the future.

The use of Benchmade's Axis Lock means they can make a lighter knife (no liners). This plus the S30V steel & a well shaped drop point blade add up to a great knife. Wish there were some more colors available, maybe a dark brown?

As usual, Benchmade has missed this knife's audience by targeting the Bugout to lightweight backpackers and outdoor adventurers.

I can only hope the right people find out about this latest knife.

By right people I mean the vast numbers looking for next evolution in a pocket knife, one that disappears in your pocket and is the antithesis of tactical.

That it only comes in blue right now is a testament to Benchmade's new-found friendly direction in their latest offering, along with their first slip-joint, The Proper.

As much as like The Proper, and give credit to Benchmade for having gone into production with it, once you get used to opening a knife with one hand, it's hard to go back.

And it is here that the Bugout shines. It's soooo smooth opening and closing, probably the best balanced knife Benchmade has ever produced.

While it is not meant to be a played-with flicker, it sure makes a satisfying sound flying open and locks up like you expect of Benchmade, flawlessly and solidly. And this from a knife way less than half an inch wide and weighing a paultry 1.85 oz.

These numbers make the Bugout pretty much the ultimate in civilized pocket carry.

You don't have to rush out to buy one, because this guy is destined to be around for a long time at the top of Benchmade's best-seller list, but you'd be missing out on putting a great big smile on you face by handling one of your own.

From the moment you slip the Bugout into your pocket you'll know why it's going to displace a lot of other good knives into dresser drawers.

I bought the 525 Bugout as a backup knife to carry along with my 810 Contego. And I have got to say it is amazing. It's so light I don't even know I'm carrying it, it's just as well built as my Contego, it's scary sharp and the perfect size. This would make a great EDC for someone who wants a quality knife for a good price that's still light and compact. It also makes a great backup if you EDC a larger knife, I can see where this would be a great knife for a backpacker or hiker where every ounce counts. This is my second Benchmade knife and I'm sure there will be many more to come.

The Bugout is an excellent slicer and a great choice for a light-duty outdoor or EDC knife. The handle is slightly thinner than the Osborne 940, but taller to sheath the deep belly of the knife. The scaled handle further enhabces a secure, if thin, grip. The thin handle also makes the 535 less obvious in a pocket, if the user chosen to remove the miniature deep carry clip.

The blade arrived "shave sharp", as expected, and the drop-point tip excels at detailed work, starting cuts cardboard, opening packages, etc. The S30v holds an edge extremely well.

I would highly recommend this knife, and I plan to order several more as gifts in the next year. The Bugout is especially appealing if you have been considering a 940 but want something a little more subtle.

I am a huge fan of the 535 Bugout, I have been carrying it for about 2 weeks now and its so light and thin you don't even feel it in your pocket. It slices like crazy with that thin blade. The handle material does not feel cheap at all, its solidly built and at least with mine, the centering is dead on. I can easily see this becoming my fav EDC knife. Its a lot of knife in a small lightweight package.I'm absolutely in love with it.

An improvement on the pardue (sorry Mel). Better blade shape, nicer steel and I like the color (be cool to see some more in bright colors). Super easy to carry and not a tiny blade. Get one.
