I have many knives I am Co-Founder of Strykeforce Close Quarters Combat Systems my son and I founded it in 2007 it's a self defense school not big but we in depth teach primarily the Defendu System There are very few knives that I recommend to our students Benchmade is one of.the top recommended brands I tell them to find a model that fits you well n that your comfortable with and always carry it the model that Im most comfortable with is your black label tactical Contego with a black serrated blade I always carry it with me ans I also carry another knife which is several different brands as my cutter you see my contego is my defense weapon and so I don't cut with it thats why I always have a second knife with me as my cutting knife I purchased the Contego after doing some research into it and what led me to my decision of making this my defense knife was the following first the axis lock it is as strong as a fixed blade no play or wobble in the blade when it clicks open it's open to stay until you close it then was the blade material it's the strongest blade benchmade produces and it's razor sharp and holds an edge and is easily resharpend then the aggressive G-10 grips besides being my favorite grip material they're aggressive which is important in a self defense knife it's the perfect size n balance for which I carry it for and God forbid I'll ever need it but if the day should come I know it'll be there n be ready.

I have a few Benchmade knives, and this one by far is one of my favorite EDC. It fits nice in the pocket and is not to heavy to weigh down, but you know its there so you wont lose it. Razor sharp out of the box and will hold an edge forever before it needs to be sharpened, just run it on the strop once a week depending on use to keep a solid edge on it and you should have a good sharp edge.

Pay for quality and you only cry once. I have the Contego folder and it's my EDC knife. Solid. Steel stays sharp, like razor sharp. Great blade shape. It disappears into my front pocket. Very discrete. It opens with a flick so quickly that anyone watching thinks it's spring assisted. The G10 handle is superb. Gotta add that I love G10 checkered and have G10 grips on a number of handguns, also. Having the glass breaker on the back is a nice touch. This will be my EDC until I get another Benchmade. Lastly..............sigh..........I have knives from a major competitor that come in around 1/2 the cost of a Benchmade. You know, I should learn to just spend a little more and buy a Benchmade because it's hard to step down to a lesser quality knife.

I recently purchased this knife after seeing many good reviews on this knife but when I got my knife I couldn't believe how benchmade sent it. This thing was so dull it was unreal it failed the paper test, could barley cut through carboard or 550 chord. Not what I would have expected from Benchmade Black Class knife. After realizing how dull this knife was I reached out to their customer service department by emailing and explained my situation and after over a week now still haven't gotten a response. I'm absolutely disappointed in that this is how Benchmade presents their premium line knife and how they take care of their customers. Please do not buy this knife and please take your business to a better company.

everything about this knife is perfect. The feel in your hand, the texture of the g10 scales, and the outstanding cpm-m4 steel blade. holds and takes an edge like nothing else I've seen. and who doesn't love some steel butterflies? it's light enough to not be dead weight in your pocket but strong enough to make you fall in love with it every time you use it.

Let me start out saying I love this knife. It's the best and most expensive knife I've purchased and it is well worth it. This knife is so sharp I could cut a tissue in half with the mere weight of the knife. Although with the quality of the knife itself I wish benchmade would habe used better material for the pocket clip for the price of the knife the clip should not habe broke the 2nd week I had it. I understand the lifetime warranty but we shouldn't have to send it in every month or so just for the clip. Shipping fees add up! Overall knife is 9/10. My personal favorite knife and I'm addicted to the style.

I've had a Contego for more than 8 years now, bought my second one after the first was stolen from my car. With how slim of a design it is and the placement of the clip its near impossible to tell that you have it in your pocket. I carry it with me every time I'm in the field; I have yet to find any chips or damage done to the blade regardless of the stress that I have put it through. Easily my favorite knife, I would certainly purchase it again.

First off it's been several years since I've carried an EDC knife, and when I did they were mostly cheap $5-$15 knives I would replace after they got dull. After hearing about Benchmade from a friend who's coworker had an Infidel I started looking into them. I went to my local Benchmade dealer to have a look around mainly looking for a knife just to add to my collection After trying to decide between a 950 and an Adamas the salesman showed me an 810 Contego and I had to have it. I got the plain bladed version in gray and I absolutely love it. I've only had it for 5 days now but it has become a wonderful EDC and it is scary sharp! I've had sharp knives but nothing quite like this. The ergonomics are great as I have very large hands, the G10 grips assure a positive hold all the time, and I certainly do not find it to be too heavy for EDC. I'm very impressed with the overall fit, finish, and quality of this blade. I will definately be buying more Benchmade knives and have already ordered a 535 Bugout for times when I may need a smaller lighter knife.
