This knife was hands down the best hunting knife I’ve ever owned. I’ve been though quite a few of them and the edge on a Benchmade just holds up better than any other blade. I guide hunts and skinned 6 Probghorn with it before it needed anything. Sad day when my knife got stolen by one of my hunters this fall...

I am 58 years old and have been hunting since I was 14. Over the years I have tried a lot of knives. I have now used my Saddle Mountain Skinner for a second successful moose season. It takes a few trips to really test a knife and understand its strengths and weaknesses. I must say that if I would have got this knife when I was 14 I could have saved a lot of money. This is by far the best knife I have ever used. Moose hide is tough this knife has no problem. I like the length shape of the blade, and I like the shape of the handle. At first I thought it was too narrow, but the more I used it the more I liked it. For anyone who has not had the chance to use a knife made of S30V steel I strongly suggest you try it. It is a wonderful knife steel. I have a few S30V knives and they are all way sharper and hold an edge much longer.

Had to return it because the handle was too small and not "grippy" enough. A thick, wide handle with finger detents or at least an index finger detent would make this knife perfect. Same goes for the sheep country

This was the very first Benchmade knife I bought. I was in search of a good all around fixed blade knife that could handle the multiple tasks of skinning/butchering a deer. Being military and law enforcement I had already heard of Benchmade's quality, however was hesitant on spending the money. This knife exceeded all expectations and was worth every penny. I purchased this knife in person from a local outdoor shop and the sharpness of the blade was astronomical. I skinned and butchered my first deer with this knife and it cut like butter. The blade kept its edge and is ready for the next. The other things I like about this knife is the feeling if you were in a survival situation, say in the mountains, this knife would also prove to be a great utility knife. I.E. cutting, splitting, shaving wood for a fire. In conclusion, I believe this is a great all around knife that will perform in any situation and could save your life if need be.

After spending countless time on the internet searching and reading reviews I decided to go down to a local outfitter and buy my new fixed blade hunting knife in person. I am an avid hunter and skin several whitetail deer annually and needed something that would be up to the task. I looked into the case and saw a wide variety of options but before I got overwhelmed the Saddle Mountain Skinner stood out to me. After I saw it was a Benchmade I assumed the price would be $200+ but to my surprise it was much less!! I then expected a lesser quality knife and a Kydex sheath but to my surprise the knife felt amazing in my hand, the blade was super solid and VERY sharp!! Even came with a nice leather sheath. I am a very happy customer and can't wait to use it! This is my first Benchmade knife and I doubt it'll be my last. I'm already considering upgrading my folder!

I got this knife for my 18th birthday present, and have loved it for everything I do camping, hunting, and fishing wise! The gut hook works great while fishing, and the wood handle hasn't slipped out of my hand yet. The only complaint that I have is the leather sheath for the gut hook configuration, even after having it for a few years, it's still hard to get in to the sheath, but other than that it's amazing. I've only had to sharpen this once in the two years that I've had it, so edge retention is also fantastic as well. Well worth it for the price.

This is a beautiful knife. It has an elegant wood grain to appeal to the eye and an aggressive blade to appeal to the function. It is one of the sharpest knives I have worked with. Fits nicely in the hand and moves without effort for skinning and cleaning big game.

I was very happy with this knife. It is the best knife I have ever used for skinning a deer. Also, this knife will cut the meat in quarter inch slices for jerky. This knife cuts slices of raw meat like a hot knife cuts thru butter. Buy this knife and you will never use any other knives when it comes to skinning and preparing the meat.

Overall I like the feel and performance of the knife, but have a few suggestions that may make the knife more practical for hunters. The jumping on the front is not very useful and makes the knife hard to clean. Most serious hunters use a small knife for fine work vs choking up on a big knife. also the Large jumping pattern on the top of the handle is not attractive and again makes the knife hard to clean in the field. Less is more!

I just purchased this model for a buddy as a special gift as his brother just passed away. I had it engraved in memory of his brother. This is a fantastic knife. The shape and size of the knife and the blade is superb. It works for so many different types of tasks and you can tell right away that it is a quality product. I've purchased several other Benchmade knives and they all have been fantastic. Keep making such a great product and made here in the USA!
