Posted onLove itI bought this knife while on vacation in the Smoky Mountains. I had been eyeing a Benchmade fixed blade for a while. One I got to feel this thing I bought it. The knife is very well made and extremely sharp. I like the sheath however, it could use a few tweeks. First by changing the direction of the strap that holds the knife in place and second by adding the 2 missing molle straps on the back. It does have 3 but to properly weave the mailice clip that is included it needs the other 2. Other than that the sheath is very well built and stiched together. This is my second Benchmade knife and I think that they have a customer for life.
Posted onExcellent!!!!I had this blade since 2004. Great durability; Hella sharp; Great feel in my hand; Outstanding product!
Posted onDisappointedTo clarify the knife itself is a 5 start, but lets talk about the sheath. Back story I've been carrying Benchmade since I inherited one from my grandfather at 15, and have spend a lot with the company, the last Nimravus I bought was in 2007. The model from 2007 had an amazing hard sheath, one of the best sheaths I've ever had, it was just as good as the knife. This model though has the most disappointing sheaths I've ever had, my junker knifes under 20 dollars have better sheaths and here's why.
The snap on the knife is too tight, making it very hard to connect it if the knife is moved at all.
The snap is facing the WRONG DIRECTION, so you have to use your index finger to open it, rather than your thumb.
MOLLE straps wouldn't even work well with this sheath and there are only 2 holes for paracord at the end.
This sheath is one if the worst sheaths I've ever seen, and worst part is the hard sheath from the model 2007 has been discontinued so there isnt even another option. Shame on you Benchmade, you if you are going to gives us poor quality sheaths then at least give us the option to get a better one.
Posted onWorth itI bought this knife for a buddy of mine a several years ago before he deployed to Afghanistan and it came home with him, in tact... although not real pretty. The stories of what that knife endured are impressive and the motivation for my purchase, although it will never go through the things that knife did.
Posted onStill the bestI have many different combat knives, but this is the one I always keep coming back to. Just about perfect in every way. My only wish would be an upgraded version in S30V steel.
Posted onExcellentThe knife is outstanding in all aspects I have it attached to my ballistic vest for work. It fits very nice I only wish the sheath was all kydex and ridged. Other than that fantastic product
Posted onBroken bladeSo it goes without saying I am a massive benchmade fan, I was using my Nimravus today and the blade snapped. Tottaly gutted as I have used this knife for years and ita always been a good tool, it kept it's edge beautifully.
Posted onGreat knifeAn all around awesome knife I absolutely love it. It’s nice and light not as heavy as most fixed blades I got mine in the tanto and I love it. It’s razor sharp and works great. I just wish it had G10 scales
Posted onGreat Fixed BladeThis is my second knife from Benchmade, and I wasn't disappointed! This company is fast becoming one of my all time favorite knife manufacturers, and the Nimravus only solidifies my opinion.
I wanted a knife for hiking that could replace my heavier Kabar, and the Nimravus is absolutely perfect. It weighs less, is a bit shorter (a little more than an inch in the blade), and fits my hand much better. I purchased the drop point straight blade, and I like that it looks a bit more like a spear point than a drop point. The blade flows perfectly and is almost perfectly balanced, and the handle provides a good grip. It is razor sharp, which is of course what we have come to expect from Benchmade.
If I had any criticisms they would be minor, I wish they would offer G10 scales and an S30V blade, but that's about it. The Sheath buckle is so stiff you almost can't get it undone (nylon sheath), I had to file the snap and now it's flawless. Obviously price is always an issue, but you do get what you pay for, and at this price point I'm very happy. I'll pay extra to support American companies, and they deliver quality!
Posted onTop notch tactical knifeI have many different tactical knives from several different companies. Somehow I just never got around to purchasing a Nimravus until now. While it may not be the largest tactical knife around - it is FAST! This is by far the fastest tactical knife I own. The 154 steel is very good - Benchmade heat treatment is perfect - and 154 is certainly at the higher end of other steel types out there used in a tactical knife. I would love to see this in an S30V version...
