    a real edc
i have this one and the dagger.
have practiced...kali/ silat for 20 years ....folding knifes are great & all ...but if your really trusting a knife as defense..fixed blade hands down...& this one is perfect for edc.
.& can then pull my firearm with it still hanging off my hand. don't bargain shop for something you may use to defend your life with. i carry one or the other daily. strong keeps an edge well...I have had it with me in several countrys . never fails !

I bought this at my local 5.11 Tactical store. Got the blade with no serrations. I was debating between the Benchmade and Spartan Blade SOCP. Chose Benchmade because the blade is sharpened on both edges. Different philosophy on using a SOCP style. But practice using the SOCP both with your index finger and pinky thru the hole. I generally like the pinky because it seems to allow better for knife retention when switching to your rifle or handgun. Nice close quarter option if you empty your mag. Negative? The clip alone doesn’t secure the sheath. Make a tactical tether using paracord and you’ll be golden

So far so good. What I like? It’s small and flat and kind of disappears on you easily. Blade came very sharp but of course not sharp enough for me so I touched it up and used a Knives Plus Strop Block to finish it. Note! This is an essential accessory for your sharpening kit.
Negative is the clasp. It simply does not secure the sheath when drawing the blade. Solution? Easy! I made a Tactical tether from a piece of paracord. Run the cord thru the hole in the sheath. Tie a figure 8 knot about 2/3rds the length of the cord. With the two loose ends make another loop roughly 1 1/2-1 3/4” and secure the ends using a water knot. That loop goes thru your belt on your carry side. The water knot is solid. It’s used by climbers to secure two ropes together. Now you can draw the blade and the tether holds your sheath whether or not the clip stays attached to your pocket. I like using fixed blades for EDC and the tether allows you to place your knife and sheath hidden IWB. Slick set up.

    great knife
I carry this knife for work as a backup and love it. It is easy to deploy and light weight. The only issue I had was the rubber grip on the clip came off almost immediately.

    Excellent Knife
I carry this on my vest as my back-up knife. Slim design but easily drawn from its sheath. Lightweight, and a solid investment.

    Intimidating
Getting gas on a quiet Sunday morning, a crazed meth-head threatened violence until he saw my SOCP knife. I didn’t have to saw a word. One glimpse of the blade in my hand and he bolted off. I carry it in my front jeans pocket. It quickly draws from the sheath. I bought 2 more for my kids - both females.

I love the Bencmade SOCP, I was a little worried at first because of the steel used (440C) but it is stupid sharp and for what it is designed for I guess it won't be a problem although I would still prefer better steel for it. Like many other people have said sometimes the sheath slips out of your pocket with the knife even with the newer sheaths with the little grippy stuff on the pocket clip. The sheath is best in jeans for pocket carry, I wear a lot of lightweight hiking pants and the sheath slides right out everytime. I fixed this by adding skate tape/grip tape to the sheath and now it stays put in jeans and hiking pants. The last thing that bothers me about the knife is there is no option for a straight edge on the the blade. I do love the knife but would prefer it without the serrations on the blade. The SOCP dagger is not sharpened like the SOCP knife and while you could sharpen the dagger yourself a lot of state laws prohibit carrying of double edged knives and daggers. The clip on the sheath could use a little work and the option for a straight edge like most other Benchmade knives would greatly improve this knife.

Can't draw without sheath comming out on the knife
The quality is great, good materials and put together well. But one major problem. When you try to draw it with one hand, the sheath comes out on the knife. No mater how I clip the sheath into a pocket, or vest pocket or anywhere, every time I pull the knife the sheath is still on the knife, making it useless. It does not work like the video shows. The clip on the sheath is not strong enough to hold it while you pull the knife out. It just doesn't work. A huge disappointment.

    Don't leave it places.
A friend of mine had this knife but he kept leaving it places. He left it in the center console of my truck and I didn't see it and it sliced my finger open with the surgical precision only a top quality Benchmade knife coule. To make matters worse, he had previously left it at my aunts house in the grass so it was a little rusty, and I am not up on my tetanus shot. Long story short, this is a really nice knife that I've notified him that I'm keeping. It cuts very well, and only gets ever so slightly rusty when left outside for over 2 months in the swampy Virginia coast. Don't hesitate to purchase this.

    Self defense
My husband bought this knife for me to use when I run. Carrying a firearm while is not safe or practical, but this knife is great! Lightweight, clips right onto my bra or bottoms and is the perfect size. I am really happy with this knife and that he bought it for my running.
