This is the best EDC knife I have ever had. Light and sharp. easy open and close.
I'm going to get one in the carbon handles soon just because I can.
Thanks for the great knives, which I'm up to 4 Benchmade knives now.

The 940 is my all time favorite Benchmade knife. It's light, solid, and fits in a tactical or EDC role. Benchmade quality as always. The axis lock is super smooth once broken in and feels tight when the blade is open. I have used this knife extensively without any issue.

This is my favourite EDC knife out there. Love the way the handle and blade look, amazing action. The only thing I dislike is that I find I can't strike a nice match between the action and bladeplay. To have it loose enough to open with the axis lock I need to introduce some noticeable blade play. On my bugout I can find a nice spot where the blade play is slim/none and the action is still great. Can't quite seem to find that spot on my 943.

I've had my 943 since 2009 and have used it heavily then until now. I have sent it in for resharpening multiple times and after almost 10 years of this have yet to replace the blade; the butterfly logo and serial etchings haven't even worn off. It is sharp as ever and it is my go-to tool at work and at home. The serrated edge option really makes a difference when it comes to overall usability. Unbelievable quality and an unbelievable company.

I have carried a 940 every day for the last six years. I use it for everything: letters, cutting food, digging splinters and thorns out of my skin, and cutting rope/string/cordage/targets/ammo boxes/whatever else needs to get cut. I slip it open quietly and hold it in a reverse grip in sketchy parking garages, and I've used it to field dress and gut a blacktail deer and filet a king salmon. I've sharpened it so many times that the blade is now almost a sheep's foot, and the handles are so scratched and scarred that it looks like it's been drug around behind a truck. It's easy to sharpen to a razor edge, and it holds that edge well despite the abuse that I heap upon it daily.

All in all, I think it's a pretty good knife.

I purchased this knife about 8 years ago. It became dull quickly - I never used it much because it was so dull. I've been wanting to send it to the factory for sharpening. On a whim, I inspected the knife blade using a 15x magnifier and noticed that the blade metal had pock marks or pits all thru it. Some of the pits caused notches in the knife's edge. The edge cannot be sharpened smooth. The pits cause the knife's edge to be rough. I am in the process of sending it back to Benchmade and we will wait and see on their response.

I have had the knife for almost a year now, and I have to say it is hands down my favorite knife. I never really thought about getting a bench made knife before getting hired at my current job where my co-worker has had a 940 for about 2 years. I held his and really liked everything about the knife. It took me about a month to decide if I wanted the 940 and not another model but after thinking about it I made the decision to get one. It has been my edc since I got it. Before getting my 940 I had hopped between a couple of different brands and styles not really like any of them and spending around $300 on different knife till I found one I was not in love with but liked the best before getting this one. I will say for sure if you are thinking about getting this model to do it. The knife is quite light and thin which is a pro as I carry it in my back pocket next to wallet, which is really nice because it sits next to my wallet and doesn't interfere with my wallet and visersa. The blade length is also perfect for the state in which I live because they have a 3.7 inch blade length limit so this comes in under that but still has immense amounts of space and cutting area.
After breaking in the action it has been buttery smooth ever since. I personally really like the reverse tanto style blade (I'm not a fan of clip points) and the fact it gives you the option to go with a serrated or plain blade style is even better.
I have looked at other models but am always drawn back to this model.
I have recommended this model to quite a few people before and they have gone on it get one of their own, and everyone who has gotten one has made it their edc. Bench made really knocked it out of the park with this model. My only complaint is that this model isn't in the customize able category such as the Griptilian, but past that. 10/10 on all category's.

Got the Benchmade 940 about a week ago. Must say the more it's used the more i'm impressed by it. First thoughts was that it could be better. When flicking it open via the thumb studs it wouldn't fully open. After a few days of fidgeting with it and use, it smoothed out and now opens very smoothly. It fits nicely in my hands and I have rather large hands but it still doesn't feel awkward to hold. It's rather light and you don't feel it in your pocket, which i like. There's almost no side to side blade play. The blade is also quite sharp you can shave with it.The pocket clip is tight you don't need to worry about it moving around or falling out of your pocket.

All and all it's a wonderful knife and well worth the money. If you just can't bring yourself to pull the trigger on due to the price tag, just do it. The quality is amazing on this knife, it's also backed by the company. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed in this purchase.
