Just received my new Auto Rift as an early Christmas present because I lost my Auto Triage a couple weeks back. I was lost without my trusty Benchmade which I carried and used most every day. I was the best knife I have ever owned (I'm soon to be 61 so it aint my first rodeo) so I knew I wanted to stay with the best quality knives which IS BENCHMADE. The solid feel on your hand, the solid snap when it locks into the open position, and the ability to hold an edge for a long time (I had the Triage sharpened once in the 4 years of near daily use) and since I cut a lot of cardboard while boxing my custom amplifiers that was surprising.I have only had this Rift Auto for a couple weeks but it's as comfortable and familiar in my hand as my Triage and I look forward to the many years of reliability. I did do something different this time around and it had been in my mind for years and that was to move away from the serrated blade since that portion can not be sharpened. So, my new Rift (9555) has the Auto mechanism, non-serrated blade, satin finished blade in 154CM steel, and it is awesome. After using it for a while, I'll submit a supplement to this review.

p.s. I bought a Kershaw Launch 1 to do the dirty work while I baby my Rift but the Kashew Lunch 1 is half the knife of this Benchmade.

I have an auto-Rift, and I love this knife. It is strong and tough and it is the perfect size for my hand. If it was $80 cheaper and had a glass breaker it would be perfect.

I wanted an EDC knife when I went to the company store to get my Infidel sharpened. The Rift wasn’t at the top of my list as I was looking through the cases, but I kept coming back to it. Now that I’ve had it three months I’m glad I bought it. Great design, easy to open, and incredibly sharp. This is great American quality and I will continue to buy Benchmade in the future.

So, I bought the auto serrated blade. It seems small out of the box but it's actually a perfect size for an everyday knife. I still like my AFO better, it seems bigger and more substantial, but my AFO was issued to me for a deployment so I am emotionally attached. The blade on the Rift is perfect for most jobs so I will keep it as sharp as I can and then send it to Benchmade in a couple of years. I just got two knives back from the life sharp service so I'm a Benchmade fan

I had to give this Rift I have had for the last year a two stars rating of price and value...Because I think it's overpriced. This aside, I absolutely love this knife, and FIVE STARS FOR QUALITY. It spends a significant amount of time in my pocket, does everything I need it to do, and shows little effect from all of it. It's got a few things I do not like, such as odd location for the thumb-stud, no milling of the liners, and some sharp edges, but this knife just works for me, and just feels right. It's one of my knives that I find myself always reaching for. It gets opened probably 50 times a day, from real world use to just playing with it. Highly recommended!

I've carried this knife every day since I bought it. I bought a CLA since and although I really like the weight of the CLA I like the feel of the AXIS lock so much I stuck with my 9555

I purchased this knife about 10 years ago as an everyday carry and have used it for about everything you should and should not use a knife for. Be it salt water, sand, mud, makeshift can opener or hammer it never fails. I am no collector, to me this is a tool and I treat it as such. In all this time it's never faltered, it survives everything I ever throw at it, and I find myself today sending it in for service for the first time. Not because it needs it, but because I think it's earned it. Highly recommended.

P.S. The Axis sticks a little now once in a while, but if you smack it against a wall it loosens right up. Don't worry though it'll survive that too!

I have had this knife for over a year now using it at work constantly and still very impressed with it. I have yet to sharpen it, or send it back to have sharpen, cause it is such an asset at work id hate to not have it there the few days, and even still it is sharper then some coworkers new knives. This is the 2nd bemchmade knife I have purchased, 1st I lost fishing. They are a bit expensive but the qualty is top knotch. I highly recommend this knife or any from them.
