My platoon bought me a custom engraved CLA automatic after retiring my beautiful and faithful Ruckus which served with me overseas in the Marine Corps as well as 7 yrs on a SWAT team. They knew that l love Benchmade knifesfor many seasons to the heft of the Ruckus but quickly adjusted to the lighter but more nimble CLA. Though both are quick auto CLA spring seemed to deploy the CLA blade with a quick "SWICK!" as opposed to the Ruckus "THUNK". Sadly tho after owning the CLA for 2 years, it was taken by the "security" at Disneyworld. I had left the knife in my pocket and declared it before passing through. A supervisor was called to the scene and I ask for a little professional courtesy in handling the matter as I explained to them that I was a police officer and the knife was a gift from my platoon on our return from AFG. Strangely that seemed to irritate him more and rudely said that the only option I had was to surrender the knife to him or leave my family (which had already passed through security) and take the 45 minute bus trip back to my room. I told him that I would handle it and walked 200 yards back to the shuttle bus drop off. There was not a soul in sight so I sit down on a flower bed a buried the knife at least 2 inches under the potting soil, under flowers. I then backed away and took several pictures for reference points and back to the park. Upon my return 10 hrs later, the knife had been dug up and stolen. Reviewing my pics I noticed two OD green camera bulbs hanging from a ornamental light post.Im certain he made his mission to watch what I did with knife. I'll bet $500 My prized knife is in that renta pocket. Sorry for the rant, just don't want anyone else losing such a great and needed tool for company theft. That knife has met combat than you'll ever know that you couldn't handle. But I've bet your proud wearing a real warriorsknife. O e day I'll find that on of us wiiL.THANX BENCMADE

Having bought many, many Benchmade knives, I can truly say this is the best auto I have ever owned. It's light, has a slim profile and a perfect blade shape. It is truly the best auto Benchmade offers.

This knife was the second Benchmade knife I purchased after my presidio. Everything about this knife is professional. Clean looks, G10 scales, and sharp blade make it a winner. Its a great knife to get laser etched as well, since the blade has a decent amount of surface for designs. I bought several of these for a construction design group and when they opened them up, they were floored at how nice the looked and operated. I don't buy any other knife brand out there because Benchmade has set the bar so high.

I carried an earlier version of an AFO as my EDC for about 12 or 13 years but I bought the CLA a couple months ago. The AFO is a nice knife but the CLA blows it away in my opinion. The CLA is just a classy, lightweight, well built auto. It feels right in my hand, has a good balanced feel and the right lines. It's slim and fits nice in the corner of the front pocket of my jeans. The G10 handle is nice and gives the knife a nice feel and contributes to the lightweight a lot. The overall length of it is perfect for EDC and the drop point blade is a great versatile shape for general everyday use. The action is fast and locks up nice and solid. I don't carry with the safety on but I do like the idea that I can engage it when the knife is open if I'm using the knife for some more strenuous cutting task and want the extra insurance of not accidentally engaging the button. I know others have said the edges on the safety are too sharp. To that I say really? It's a knife not a teddy bear. I like the fact they are sharp and I'm sure the designer meant for them to be sharp so you could positively engage it with sweaty or bloody hands. All in all this is very well designed knife, and of course, it has Benchmade quality and is made in the U.S.A. by American craftsman. Keep doing it the way you do it Benchmade it's not going unnoticed!!

I love this knife. I was carrying a Boost(which I also love) But this is just the right weight and the knife feels great and looks great. I bought the Black Satin with a stainless satin blade. I was a little concerned that it was an auto but I can open my spring assist Boost just as fast. I would look at the laws in your state to be sure.

I’ve had the CLA 4300 for a year and a half now. I specifically own the satin finish blade with plain edge, and black g-10 scales version. As soon as I held this knife in my hand at the dealer I knew this was the knife I had been looking for, for quite some time. This knife has been put through its paces and has been abused and it is still going strong. I keep the blade cleaned with 409 and also use it to keep particles cleaned away from edge while sharpening.Just earlier today my knife developed an issue in the mechanism causing it to not completely open at the push of the actuator button. As this is my only knife, sending it to lifesharp isn’t really my first option, so I decided to “put it under the knife” myself. I began removing the small screws from the sides and I would be lieing if I said I was 100% successful. 50% of the small screw heads stripped out. Luckily I was still able to get the knife apart. To my surprise, once the knife was apart, there wasn’t much junk built up in the mechanism, just a light film of grime built up on each brass washer which was enough to render it a “non-automatic” knife. The mechanism itself is a very simplistic design, I said simple, not bad. The design of the automatic mechanism is a very sturdy, robust design. I Gently cleaned my brass washers with soap and warm water and allowed to dry and reassembled the knife after lubing the parts with “Hoppes” gun oil. The knife operates better now than when it was brand new. Other than the crummy screws this knife is an absolute gold winner in my book. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. If it were up to me, everyone would own one. It is a bit pricey though, considering the low quality screws. Considering buying an Osbourne next to rotate so that when one knife needs some attention I can send it to lifesharp and not be without a quality knife.

I debated about spending this much cash for a knife. I finally caved in and bought the plain satin blade with the green/black G-10 handles. Wow, what a great knife. It has perfect balance, is lightweight, lightning quick blade presentation, and made with great materials. The deep pocket carry clip is great and the overall looks are second to none. If you're on the fence about spending this much for a knife, jump off the fence and just buy it. You won't regret it.

From the blade geometry, to the action, to the feel in your hand, everything about this knife is perfect. A week of carrying this as my EDC convinced me to buy one. The quality and balance are amazing, it's everything you would expect from a Benchmade and is absolutely worth every penny of the price. I 100% recommend this knife.
