Crooked River Family
Introducing the Crooked River family, a traditional shape combined with modern technology that pushes the preconceived notions of what a hunting knife should be. Made in USA.
Posted onBetter than advertisedJust received this product. Couldn’t be happier. It looks and feels terrific well balanced. I had mine customized and that came out excellent also. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to purchase this knife. I chose the s90v steel for the blade.
Posted onHeld their wordThe knife is beautiful with sleek lines. I had ordered a custom made knife, beauty is nice but function is a must have. The SV30 held up to multiple cuts on card board, wood, a bit of hammering, some side lock action, and didnt chip or break. Have run the knife for months now with no issues on the blade, locking mechanism is top shelf blade never unlatched on its own. I did break the deep pocket clip, still looking to figure out how I did that but Benchmade replaced the clip under warranty. Blade movement is smooth, lock is firm and can be one handed open and shut. To be honest you could probably give me a rock and it would be in pieces within a week, this knife held up, held the edge, did things a knife shouldnt even do but did. Benchmade held their word and made a quality knife above the others, thank you. It is worth the money for the value.
Posted onCuts like a dream!I love how the Crooked River combines classic styling with modern materials. I was especially impressed by how well the S30v blade performs. This is my dedicated hunting knife and in the past year I've gutted and broken down 3 whitetails and the blade is still scary sharp! My only gripe is it is a tad pricey.
Posted onExceptional, Incredible, Exemplary, Top ShelfOrdered a custom Crooked River and was so impressed with the quality of the build I immediately ordered a custom Mini Crooked River to match.
I now have a total of 5 Benchmade knifes. After the first one I was hooked, steel quality, overall build quality, attention to detail is always (best of class).
I know a knife is a tool, my problem is any Benchmade is so beautiful I hate to abuse it as I normally do with knifes. Two of my Benchmade’s are the same (ordered a backup just in case). I am beginning to realize I may never go to my backup because (some of you may be old enough to remember the commercial) It Takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking.
Yes, some of them are PRICEY although you would not expect buy a Wilson Combat CQB Elite 1911 for the price of a Rock Island Armory Rock Ultra MS 1911. The old saying holds true (You Get What You Pay For).

Posted onBest Benchmark in my AssemblageOrdered the Custom Crooked River. After arrival inspection I must say this is the best knife I have ever owned. I have several Benchmark’s although nothing is quite like a Custom Benchmark. The American quality and paramount craftsmanship is beyond compare. Since carrying this for a couple weeks now I just ordered a Custom Mini Crooked River to have a matching set. Made in the U.S.A. truly means best in the world. The nice part is bragging to friends here in SC saying “You ain’t got nothing like this”
Posted onBest EDC available. Better than the 940 of any variant.Best knife I have ever bought. Opens and closes just as fast as an automatic with 2-3 days of practice.
I was a solid Buck guy for years and years. I was in the market for a new knife and after watching hours of Benchmade reviews online and doing other research, it was obvious I had to consider a Benchmade. Went to my closest REI and put my hands on many Benchmade, including the model they make exclusively for REI. That model was $195, not inexpensive by any means. However, I then picked up a full size Crooked River and fell in love, even though it was $20 more than the 940 that everybody had said one “had” to have. I am in a profession where a reliable, highly reliable, extremely sharp-edged knife is required for last ditch efforts. However, I am restricted to NOT being able to carry fully automatic knives. So with 2-3 days of practicing opening and closing the Crooked River, I finally got it down to rival the speed of any automatic (fair disclosure, I did nick 2 fingers while learning to master the opening and closing process).
In closing, I will always have many fond memories of my Bucks, but I am a Benchmade guy now. I am currently salivating over all the possible “back up” knives to chose from on their website. Also fair disclosure, although I did pay $215 for the knife, being an REI member, I will get a little over a $20 rebate at the end of the year. So I really did only spend $195: the same price as the REI exclusive 940.
Of course everybody will have their own “”go to/favorites” for EDC. This review is simply my own opinion, take it or leave it.
Lastly, I called Benchmade directly to ask some technical questions regarding my new purchase and the customer service was/is OUTSTANDING. Kudos to Nate for knowing immediately the answer to EVERY question I had.

Posted onBest Custom Knife EverOrdered a custom Crooked River and by far it is the best knife I have ever owned. Delivery was much faster than stated. I have a lot of knifes and straight razors, CPM-S30V is a great blade steel. The build quality is unmatched, and 100% made in the U.S.A. is what all of us want to brag about.
Posted onKnockoutBeautiful knife. Not my first Benchmade; definitely won't be my last. This is one of those knives that when you see it, you have to put one in your hands. Excellent machine work. Perfectly centered blade and razor sharp out of the box. The fit and finish is amazing. The action is butter smooth. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Absolutely an heirloom piece. Price is a little on the high side, but well worth it. I couldn't build a product of this quality if I had a decade to finish it. If you're on the fence, buy it. You won't regret it.
Posted onSuperiorityThis is my 2nd Benchmade, though I’ve shoppped in-person thoroughly, now that I’ve carried the full size Crooked River it is hands down my favorite piece Benchmade or otherwise. First, it is simply gorgeous, the symmetry, the wood handle, the lines. The mechanics are superb, out of the box I added 1 drop of gun oil to work into the Axis lock and it is perfectly smooth now. The blade is a razor from the factory, flawless, and as a whole perfectly balanced. Some argue the size is slightly beyond a convenient EDC, I don’t disagree entirely but I adjusted fine and now feels natural, preferably with the deep carry clip. Best knife in my collection, easily my EDC, used for everything, and constantly a topic of discussion for all who see it!
