Product Review (submitted on April 10, 2016):
I didn’t expect to dig the Osborne 940 as much as I do and now understand why so many people go bananas over it. First off, the 940 is gorgeous. The fit and finish radiate quality from the moment you take it in hand. The blade is perhaps the sharpest out of box of any knife I've ever owned. I shaved a little with it, just to see if I could. I wouldn’t recommend this as a general practice, but damn, that’s a sharp knife. The Axis lock allows for lightning-fast deployment and locks up rock-solid. Again, now I understand why so many people dig the Axis lock. Given the speed and reliability of deployment, I would absolutely feel comfortably defending myself with the 940. Thus so far, I’ve been able to avoid danger and haven’t had to put the 940 to use in this capacity. In the meantime, it’s been great for opening boxes, cutting tape and a thousand other day to day cutting tasks that seem to come up.
My one gripe is the black painted coating on the clip. I'd love to have a non-coated "BENCHMADE USA" clip on this thing. But I’m nit-picking.
I categorically recommend this legendary knife.
