Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Adira™ Tempest Gray and the standard serrated Adira® (18060S)? +

While both models feature the same heavy-duty serrated frame and MagnaCut® steel, the 18060SBT-01 is the "Dark Water" variant. It swaps the bright Depth Blue handle for an understated Tempest Gray Grivory® and adds a Cerakote® Blue Titanium blade finish. This coating provides an extra layer of protection against the elements while reducing glare.

Why should I choose the serrated blade over the standard plain edge? +

Serrations bite into wet, fibrous materials like rope, fishing line, and netting far more aggressively than a plain edge. When cutting soaked braided line or thick cordage, the saw-like teeth grip and cut through without slipping, a task where plain edges tend to glide off. For anglers and boaters who frequently work with line and rope in wet conditions, serrations are a practical upgrade.

What is CPM-MagnaCut® steel and why is it good for saltwater use? +

MagnaCut® is a powder metallurgy stainless steel engineered for extreme corrosion resistance and edge retention. It combines high hardness with exceptional toughness, making it nearly impervious to saltwater rust while holding a working edge through repeated cutting tasks. MagnaCut® delivers the corrosion protection of lower-grade steels with the cutting performance of premium tool steels.

How does the Grivory® handle perform in wet or slippery conditions? +

Grivory® is an engineered composite (glass-filled nylon) with extremely low water absorption, so it won’t swell or become "slimy" when soaked. The handle features strategic texturing to channel water away from your palm. This ensures a secure, non-slip grip even when covered in fish scales or salt spray, providing confidence for heavy-use maritime tasks.

Can I use the Adira® for everyday carry or is it fishing-only? +

While built for the water, the Adira® is a fantastic heavy-duty EDC. The 3.6-inch drop-point blade is highly versatile, and the deep-carry pocket clip keeps it discrete in your pocket. If you work in construction or landscaping where you are frequently exposed to the elements, its corrosion-resistant internals make it a more reliable daily carry.
