The new compact Mini Osborne variant features a wear-and corrosion-resistant CPM-MagnaCut reverse tanto blade with a DLC Battlewash finish and Burnt Copper Anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle scales dotted with mean black oxide hardware. Lightweight, versatile, and timeless, the 945BK-03 Mini Osborne is easily pocketable and an effective backup for the truck, the camper, and your day pack.

The 945BK-03 is the compact version, with a 2.92" blade and 2.0 oz weight compared to the 940BK-03's 3.4" blade and 2.9 oz. Both share the same MagnaCut® steel, DLC Battlewash finish, Burnt Copper anodized aluminum handle, and outdoor-inspired build.

How does the 945BK-03 Mini Osborne differ from the standard 945 Mini Osborne? +

The 945BK-03 shares the same dimensions and weight as the standard 945 Mini Osborne but steps up the materials. It features MagnaCut® steel instead of CPM-S30V for improved toughness and corrosion resistance, and a DLC Battlewash blade finish instead of satin for added wear and scratch resistance.

How does MagnaCut® steel compare to S30V? +

MagnaCut® offers meaningful improvements in toughness and corrosion resistance over S30V, with nearly-comparable edge retention. Its finer carbide structure makes it more resistant to chipping under lateral stress, and it holds up notably better in humid or high-salinity environments. It is also easier to maintain in the field.

What is a DLC Battlewash finish and what are its benefits? +

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is an incredibly hard, scratch-resistant coating that shields the blade from wear and corrosion. The "Battlewash" finish adds a tumbled, distressed aesthetic over the DLC, creating a tactical, non-reflective surface. Its main benefit is durability: unlike solid coatings that show every mark, Battlewash naturally hides signs of use, meaning the blade looks better the more you work it.
