    Unreal. God bless America
This knife I have had for 20 years now. Carried it almost everyday, got others that are good but because I never want to lose this knife! I’ve only ever had to send it in for a spring replacement 1x ever and it has always been sharp, reliable, tough, lightweight, and it’s hard to explain unless you’ve had the opportunity to use and carry one... I have been a expert level Krav Maga Instructor for 15yrs, traveled the world teaching law enforcement, and military. Teach our own countries finest. This has been my knife used for all of it and I’m telling you now. If it can take the beating it has even just for 1 year of it, this knife is worth this price 5x over. But it’s lasted the WHOLE time, and there’s just some wear on the black of the handle. This thing is no joke. I’ve bought other top of the line knives to just have in my collection and have. I’ve since only ever bought ones that are similar to this one and without throwing other companies under the bus will just say. They’ve broken in so many different ways, lost their edge very quickly. I cannot even believe how BA this knife is I really cannot... I thought I lost it once and literally had a heart attack over a materialistic item haha. I will be buying this when I can and searching for another original version to give to my son when he’s old enough and had a couple to be irresponsible with and be able to understand / appreciate this. I’d give him my own but maybe when I die in my will. It’s forged on mount Olympus by Zeus himself. Literally one spring replacement ever and have only NEEDED to sharpen it 4x but have more than that just for fun to keep it razor sharp.

Only benchmark I own due to price but very much worth it and will be changing that hopefully soon. It’s like the ak of knives in terms of taking a beating and reliability. I’ve put this knife through hell and enjoy using it as my first line of defense unless close range is unavoidable then rely on my concealed sidearm.

    Purdue 3550
I bought my Purdue 3550, (don’t believe that’s what it was called then), back in 2001. I have carried this knife everyday for going on twenty years. I have returned it once for a spring replacement and new belt clip but I wouldn’t trade this knife for any other at any price. Was looking on the website to see if the knife was still offered so I could look at buying a new one to keep in my safe, just in case... Very happy to see it is still available !

    Everlasting Quality
I’ve had the original version of this knife for 15 years. I’ve used it for all sorts of stupid tasks and the blade remains perfect. The handle has lost a bit of its finish and I’ve had to replace one screw, but it’s a small price to pay for how tough this knife is. I used the back of the blade to unscrew a rusted caravan door in a desperate situation, and there wasn’t a single mark left on it. The price of this knife doesn’t do it justice—I’d pay twice as much because it feels like it’s got a lifetime worth of work in it.

Carried this knife for over 5 years until I made THE fatal error and donated it to the TSA. I’m ordering another one.

    Unreliable mechcanism
I bought this knife when I was in high school. I’m 42 now. The initial quality and performance of this knife impressed me. Since I purchased the knife, however, the automatic mechanism has failed more times than I have kept track of. The warranty has backed the product with no problem and the knife has been repaired many times and even replaced once. Unfortunately, if a knife isn’t reliable, it is quite useless and ends up sitting in a drawer until the next time I feel like going through the hassle of shipping it to Benchmade for repairs. This has certainly been a frustratingly incompetent knife for me.

    Far exceeded my expectations
This blade has far exceeded my expectations. When I originally purchased this knife through a military exchange system 15 years ago, I never would have thought it would have lasted this long, let alone stayed in my pocket this long. I have been through many knives throughout my life, most fall to the wayside because they just cannot keep an edge or turn to junk through normal use. This knife has lasted me 15 years and I am now sending it in for warranty work and possibly a new blade so I can get 15+ more years of use out of it. The blade is still sharp, but I want that brand new sharp so I can get many more years of use from it. Benchmade is the only knife I will buy now.

    Tactical Art and Craftsmanship
I’ve always wanted this Pardue and now that I own one I am glad I finally made the decision to buy it. The ergonomics are straightforward and this design fulfills the promise of form following function.

The grip has a texture to it that assures that it wont slide or slip in deployment of the blade or in in virtually any grip be it thumb and fingers or reverse grip.

The blade delivers on the promise of fine steel, a perfectly forged shape, and of course a perfect point and edge. The release action is entirely dependable and the blade locks in a way that makes it feel like sheath knife

This knife is built to last a lifetime and I feel confident that it will be there if and when I need it.

From carving knives to OTFs there are dozens of once solely German or American made knives now being made in China. The result puts companies like Benchmade on the back foot in price competition, but for myself that quality craftsmanship and material is worth paying for.

I’ll be back and I have no problem promoting Benchmade to all my fellow Veterans.

    Completely Happy
I purchased this knife to add to up my edc game a bit, give me a faster more tactical style of knife. I have had it for a while now and love it. I am former military and feel that i could use this knife in a defensive situation if my primary weapon was disabled or I couldn’t carry my sidearm. It is fast and sharp and holds an edge well. I like the slim profile and light weight when carrying it in shorts or slacks and would recommend it to anyone that wanted a bit smaller but very well made knife that preforms. Kudos, I will definitely add to my Benchmade collection in the future.

    Better Options
This is a great knife. Keeps a razor sharp edge and is very quick. When it comes to value, I would rather spend the money on something less steep. There are others in the market with much better grips/handle than the Stimulus (aka try a Covert Auto) that might be slightly large but much more comfortable grip.
